Micro wedding ceremony in Colorado.

Micro weddings are all the craze right now, and for good reason! A micro wedding is a smaller scale celebration with 50 guests or less compared to a larger wedding with 200+ guests. A small intimate wedding allows you to have more meaningful moments with your partner and guests. Lizz and Logan had a beautiful wedding at the Juniper Mountain House in Colorado. Their day was an incredible representation of what makes a micro wedding so great. Let’s dive into all the details of their special day and why you should consider a micro wedding!

Stress-Free Wedding Moments

For starters, a micro wedding is less stressful and overall more easier! While I was hanging out with Lizz and Logan as they were getting ready, it felt SO easy as if I was part of their celebration instead of just their wedding photographer. Compared to other weddings I’ve captured, I noticed there were more smiles all around! Another benefit of a micro wedding is the ability to go against tradition, like choosing whether to have a wedding party or not. Lizz and Logan decided not to have bridesmaids which allowed for more intentional photos of just the two of them. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about–the union between you and your love!

Flexible Budgets and Unique Details

Another reason more couples are choosing micro weddings is because it allows you to be more flexible with your budget. With less guests, you can splurge on what’s most important to you. For Lizz and Logan that was good food and making sure their guests were comfortable. Even though it was cold in March, they had space heaters and blankets for guests with the ability to go inside for a warm drink. They ate their delicious food all cozied up next to each other on a long family style table during their reception. It was so sweet how they prioritized the comfort of their loved ones!

Sweet Words from the Lovely Brides!

“Kelsey is incredibly talented!!! We found Kelsey for our engagement photos and loved her work so much, we asked her to come to Colorado to shoot our wedding. Best choice ever! She did such a great job making us feel comfortable and natural during the whole process. She perfectly captured the most important moments of our wedding day! Beyond the great work she does, she is the kindest person with such a fun personality. We had multiple guests comment on how great she was to work with as she directed our group photos. We would hire Kelsey over and over again for any photography needs we ever have!”

Let’s Plan Your Micro Wedding Next!

I have been getting a ton more inquiries lately regarding micro-weddings. This really is inspired from my own wedding experience and how often I had to remind the vendors I hired that my wedding was different.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help budget and take some stress away from the day YOU want to make it be.

  1. How many people do we need to invite? Need is the key word here. Ask yourself, would I go to coffee with this person one on one next week? Was this person present during your and your fiance’s relationship? Your guest count will really decide how much you should budget.
  2. Name your top 3 must haves for your wedding. What MUST you have for your day. Is it good food? Is it a live band? Is it beautiful florals? Is it a choreographed dance? Center your 3 must haves on every decision you make your day!
  3. What are some traditions you can live without? Do you have to have bridesmaids and groomsmen? Do you have to have a honeymoon days after the wedding? Do you have to wait to see your fiance when you’re walking down the aisle?

However you envision your wedding day, I encourage you to think outside the box to make your day as unique and special as your love story.
