I’m excited to share the beautiful spring wedding of Katie and Jared, a couple who have been together for five wonderful years. Their wedding took place at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, followed by a reception at The Austin in Kansas City. In this post, I’ll guide you through the details of their ceremony and reception spaces, their spring wedding color inspiration, and how I captured their special day with my bold, colorful, and candid photography style.

Below are the wonderful vendors that helped make Katie and Jared’s day possible

Capturing the Intimate Moments

For Katie and Jared’s wedding, I started the day at Katie’s parents’ house, capturing beautiful moments of Katie getting ready with her sister and mother. What’s wild is that I photographed Katie’s sister Jordan in the exact same place for her wedding back in 2021. It was surreal to have the opporutnity to photograph inside their beautiful parent’s home once again. Jared got ready with his boys at his parent’s house where they had a pool table to play with. Right before they both headed towards the church they took the opportunity to read letters addressed to each other.

The Ceremony at Saint Michael the Archangl Church

When we arrived at Saint Michael the Archangel Church., Katie and Jared opted for a private first look before the ceremony. This intimate moment allowed them to share their emotions and ease any pre-wedding nerves.

Saint Michael the Archangel Church provided a stunning setting for Katie and Jared’s spring wedding ceremony. The church’s classic architecture and serene ambiance made it an ideal location for their vows. The spiritual significance and timeless elegance of the church added a profound and meaningful touch to their ceremony. I also appreciated how big the space is, allowing me to float around and capture moments without being a distraction for the guests.

Spring Wedding Inspiration

Katie and Jared chose a beautiful color palette of soft pinks, whites, and navy for their spring wedding, creating an elegant and romantic atmosphere. The soft pinks added a touch of romance, the whites brought simplicity, and the navy provided a classic contrast. The bridal party attire complemented the theme perfectly, with bridesmaids in soft pink dresses and groomsmen in classic navy suits with white boutonnieres. Katie looked stunning in her white wedding gown, while Jared was dashing in his navy suit, completing the cohesive and stylish look.

This really came together when we took wedding photos in front of the Kauffman Center of Performing Arts and inside Loew’s Hotel. This wedding party was SO fun to photograph. They were full of personality and were down to do anything in front of my camera. I especially love that the groomsmen threw Jared up in the air, and the bridesmaids were down to faun and hype Katie up.

Afterwards, I took Katie and Jared over to Loew’s Hotel. Just as a side note, they had a room booked at Loew’s Hotel for later that evening. Loew’s Hotel only allows guests to use their space. I felt so lucky were able to take advantage of it. We took portraits in front of the infamous stairwell and little side room that was especially dark, but proved to be a great space for some moody photos. Afterwards, we headed to the Austin for their reception!

Celebrating at The Austin Kansas City Venue

The reception took place at The Austin in Kansas City Missouri, known for its chic, modern design and versatile spaces. The Austin’s gorgeous blue-accented walls and stunning outdoor area offered a perfect blend of sophistication and charm. This venue beautifully complemented Katie and Jared’s spring wedding theme and provided an unforgettable experience for their guests.

When you first walked in, their guests were able to enjoy some live music, speciality cocktails, and mingling all in the Austin’s beautiful covered outdoor space. When they transitioned inside, they were met with gorgeous floral centerpieces. Once the reception started, I could just tell how much joy filled the room. The first dance, parent dances, and toasts were all so heartfelt. Once the party got started, and lit up foam batons were passed around I knew I was going to have a heck of a party to document. They ended the night with a sparkler photo op with their wedding party and family.

I absolutely adore these two and I hope I get to photograph this beautiful family again.
